All you need to get started using GhostStead is an idea. In fact, coming up with your idea and the name for your project takes more time than setting up your GhostStead site.

The first step is enrolling in our free plan. It has everything you need to get started. You can have access to the full suite of GhostStead features.
As your website grows, GhostStead will grow with you, no matter how big you get. You never have to pay for more than you need. All GhostStead plans are based on usage. Some businesses will never need to upgrade from the free plan.
Name and Domain
Next, you need to have a name for your project. GhostStead works differently than services like WordPress. The name you choose will be the name of your site unless you have a custom domain.
If you don't have a custom domain, your site address will look something like this: <name>.ghoststead.net. The subdomain will always be available, and the subdomain name cannot change.
Once you have your name picked out, simply add it to the name field and hit submit.
At any point, you can add a custom domain to your plan. All you will need to do is change the DNS settings on your domain to point to your GhostStead account.
PRO TIP: If you are going to use a custom domain, the sooner you add it the better. As soon as you launch your site you are building your site reputation and SEO. If you have a lot of excellent content, switching to a custom domain can temporarily hurt your SEO.
Now comes the fun part. You get to start building your website. You can use our WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) editor or our more advanced markdown editor. You can also embed dynamic content like videos or polls.
After you are done creating a page, click “Publish”. You are now open for business.
